Training Horses
Starting
a horse begins with the groundwork. It is important to spend
time on this as it forms the first building blocks in your horse's education.
David teaches them to lead on the lightest of rope with no resistance, pick
up their feet, have their teeth examined, load, go over obstacles and to have
trust in their handler.
Everyone
wants the best possible start for their horse in order to build a solid
foundation for a happy, well-balanced partner. David has started literally
hundreds of horses and his calm, no fuss approach ensures that
their experience is a smooth and happy one. We would recommend a minimum
of six weeks for starting.
Clear
instructions are essential with any horse as well as an understanding
of each of their needs and individual capabilities. There is
no blue-print which works on all of them.
They
absolutely have to be treated as a unique personality. And that
is exactly how David approaches each and every one of them. His experience
with the horses he has trained has meant that he has developed a flexible
way which works. His training is not discipline-specific - it's just good
horsemanship. His methods have produced horses that have gone on to
become excellent competition horses as well as calm, steady hacks or good
all-around riding club horses.
Training Riders
Lessons
You
can have a private one to one lesson or share with a friend or two. David
is an excellent teacher who will get the most out of you and your horse, whilst
making it fun at the same time. He is particularly good with nervous riders
and teaches all levels and all disciplines. (Please note:
We do not do lessons on our own horses).
Clinics
& Demonstrations
As
well as holding regular clinics locally, David also travels to different
areas around the UK. If you have access to an arena and would like him
to travel to you to do a clinic or demonstration, please give us a
call to discuss what we can do for you. In the meantime, our Diary
Dates page has an up to date list of forthcoming events and further
information.
